What Brand Clients Need

Brand clients need more than a photographer. They need someone who understands their market, their audience, and how fitness imagery translates into commercial results.

Whether you're a supplement brand launching a new product line, a gym equipment manufacturer building a campaign, an agency producing content for a fitness client, or a publication commissioning editorial work, the requirements are the same. You need images that sell. Images that stop someone mid-scroll. Images that your competitors wish they'd shot first.

That requires three things: a photographer who knows the fitness industry inside out, a facility that can handle production-level work, and access to the right talent. Christopher Bailey provides all three.

This isn't a photographer pivoting from weddings or portraits. Christopher has spent 18 years exclusively in fitness photography. His work has appeared in Muscle and Fitness, FLEX, Men's Health, and Men's Fitness. He's shot at 7 Mr Olympias and 7 Arnold Classics. He understands the visual language of fitness marketing because he's been producing it for 18 years.

18 Years of Commercial Fitness Photography

Christopher's commercial experience spans the full range of what fitness brands require.

Publication work. Covers, features, and editorial shoots for Muscle and Fitness, FLEX, Men's Health, and Men's Fitness. He understands magazine-grade production standards and delivers to that level regardless of whether the work is for print, digital, or social.

Brand campaigns. Product launches, seasonal campaigns, ambassador content, and e-commerce imagery. Christopher has produced campaign work for fitness brands that need imagery to perform across multiple channels - from hero banners to social media carousels to paid advertising.

Athlete content. Working directly with athletes to produce content that serves both the brand and the individual. Christopher knows how to manage athlete relationships on set, direct talent who may not have professional modelling experience, and produce images that satisfy brand guidelines while still feeling authentic.

Event coverage. 7 Mr Olympias, 7 Arnold Classics, and major UK fitness expos. If you need coverage at a live event, Christopher has the credentials and the experience to deliver in high-pressure, fast-moving environments.

Editorial and lifestyle. Not everything needs to be shot in a gym. Christopher produces lifestyle and editorial fitness content for brands that want a broader visual identity beyond training imagery.

The consistent thread across all of it is specialism. Christopher doesn't shoot anything except fitness. That singular focus is why the work is at the level it is.

A Purpose-Built Production Facility

The studio is a purpose-built gym in Nottingham, and it's built for production-level work.

The space. A fully equipped gym floor with a centre rig, free weights, machines, benches, cable stations, and wall-to-wall mirrors. This isn't a photography studio with some props. It's a real gym with professional lighting permanently rigged into the ceiling. When a model or athlete is shot on the gym floor, it's authentic - because the environment is authentic.

The lighting. Professional studio lighting designed over 18 years specifically for physique and fitness work. Multiple rigs, multiple modifiers, and the ability to switch between hard, dramatic lighting and softer editorial setups without significant downtime.

The privacy. The studio is completely private. No public access, no gym members, no foot traffic. For commercial clients, this means full control over the environment. No unwanted people in the background. No noise. No interruptions. Your production has the space to itself.

Climate control. Critical for maintaining athlete condition throughout longer shoots. The studio stays warm, keeping talent vascular, comfortable, and camera-ready for the duration.

Facilities. Full changing rooms with showers, free on-site parking, and enough space to accommodate a production team - creative directors, stylists, makeup artists, and brand representatives are all welcome on set.

Hair and makeup. Professional hair and makeup can be arranged for any shoot. Christopher works with experienced MUAs who understand fitness photography and the specific requirements of shooting physiques under studio lighting.

For brands that need location work or multi-location shoots, Christopher is available to travel. The studio is the home base, but the work goes wherever the brief requires.

Athlete Roster and Talent Access

Finding the right talent for a fitness campaign can be difficult. Most model agencies don't specialise in physique athletes, and most physique athletes don't have professional modelling experience.

Christopher bridges that gap. After 18 years in the industry, he has direct relationships with a wide roster of athletes, fitness models, and talent across the UK. From IFBB Pro League competitors to lifestyle fitness models, male and female, across all divisions and body types.

If your brief requires specific talent, Christopher can recommend and source athletes who match your requirements. He handles the introduction, the briefing, and the direction on set. Athletes who've worked with Christopher before trust his direction, which translates into better performance on camera and a smoother shoot day.

If you're bringing your own talent, that works just as well. Christopher is experienced in directing athletes who may have limited or no experience in front of a professional camera. He'll manage their positioning, their expression, and their interaction with product or environment, so you get the images you need regardless of the model's experience level.

Licensing and Usage

Commercial fitness photography requires clear usage agreements. Christopher works with transparent licensing terms that are agreed before the shoot begins.

Standard licensing covers agreed channels and duration. This typically includes your website, social media, email marketing, and owned digital platforms. The specifics are confirmed during the briefing process so there are no surprises after delivery.

Extended licensing for paid advertising, out-of-home, print distribution, or third-party media is available and quoted on a per-project basis.

Exclusivity and buyout options are available for brands that need full ownership or exclusive usage of specific images.

Athlete usage rights. If athletes from Christopher's roster are involved, their usage rights are managed as part of the project agreement. Christopher handles this on your behalf so the process is seamless.

All licensing is agreed in writing before the shoot. You'll know exactly what you're paying for and exactly what you can do with the images.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you source athletes or models for our campaign?

Yes. Christopher has direct relationships with a wide roster of fitness athletes and models across the UK. He can recommend and source talent that matches your brief, manage the introduction, and direct them on set. If you're bringing your own talent, that works equally well.

Do you shoot on location or only in the studio?

Both. The studio is the home base and is set up for production-level work. But Christopher is available for location shoots anywhere in the UK and internationally. The brief determines the venue.

Can the studio accommodate a full production team?

Yes. There's space for creative directors, stylists, MUAs, brand representatives, and anyone else involved in the production. Hair and makeup artists can also be arranged through Christopher if needed.

How does licensing work?

Usage rights are agreed in writing before the shoot. Standard licensing covers your website, social media, and owned digital platforms. Extended licensing for paid advertising, print, or third-party distribution is available on a per-project basis. Exclusivity and buyout options are also available.

What's the turnaround time for commercial projects?

Standard turnaround is within 48 hours for edited galleries. For larger projects with extensive retouching or specific brand requirements, timelines are confirmed during the briefing stage.

Do you offer day rates or retainer agreements?

Yes. Day rates are available for brands and agencies with ongoing or multi-project requirements. Get in touch to discuss your needs and Christopher will propose a structure that works.
